Redirecting Homepage to Subdomain Bad or Good Idea??

I have a very old forum that still gets a lot of traffic, but when migrating over to another software that is cloud based we cannot redirect using same domain, SO the only option would to be to change the cname on a subdomain and then REDIRECT all the traffic from the ROOT domain permanently - would this be a bad move as the root domain wouldnt be used anymore as now its just setup to be redirected in order to use the software we need to use? Domain is 17 years old.

Both domains and subdomain are new to browse. So if you redirect the domain traffic to the subdomain, it also shares your link juice. If you do not want that platform then I think it is best, but it also affects your traffic. Because some users make the subject interesting on preview domains which may not be now

Domain migratioins can potentially keep most of the traffic, but with something like an old forum this seems unlikely - there's going to be a lot of pages, they're very old so won't be crawled often, and as it's probably not the main focus of your business, I suspect the migration won't receive the full attention of an SEO team.
As such, I'd say this question comes down to which you value most, out of organic traffic to the forum as it stands, and completing this software migration.

So I noticed my rankings going down and spam score going up. So under my spam score there are over 100 links for different websites but ALL redirect to semalt.com I researched it and it says they hijacked a bunched of backlinks but don't know much more. How can I get rid of all those backlinks? I was told I could use the disavow tool but apparently that can hurt my ranking as well. Solve Redirect Chains
I've gotten a few Redirect Issues that involve Redirect Chains, with the https:// version redirecting to the www. version and then redirecting to the right URL. Here is an example:

I've also tried checking the internal links to make sure that none of the links are the first one. They don't seem to be there. Does anyone have any tips on solving these Redirect Chains?0 -
Automatic subdomain redirection programmed over a given period?
Hi all, I have a technical problem that is quite beyond my "expertise", and I'm wondering if someone can help me to find a way to handle this. My website automatically changes appearance and some content as well twice a year (summer and winter), and we also change the sub domain, like this: September to may > www.nameofmysite.com and june to august > summer.nameofmysite.com I know it's a bit tricky, and we're doing this with a 303 redirection and will also provide a possibility (via a button) to switch beetwen "seasons". To sum up, during the "summer" I've got: http://summer.nameofmysite.com/webzine/news/name-of-my-page.html and during the "winter": http://www.nameofmysite.com/webzine/news/name-of-my-page.html As you can see, it's the same content, with a temporary redirection 303. Redirects in site map
I have a site with the ace/sef ( creates friendly URLS) in a large data base site. It creates a site map dynamically. Yet I realize one issue which I am trying to think through. I recently changed my urls to include an ID number example: homepage/houses/1134-big-blue-house The prior url was: homepage/houses/big-blue-house the original url above redirects to the new one with the ID like I want. However the site map has both URLS in it which go to same page I am not sure but it seems rather stupid to have the new URL and OLD redirected URL in the site map. Yet beside stupid I am wondering if this is duplicate content and will cause a penalty from the google bot. What is your opinion ?

Reciprocal link building a bad idea?
Reciprical Link Building or one way traffic? Good morning from 8 degrees c but very sunny wetherby UK Regarding link acquisition ive had it in my head that the best idea is to secure inbound links only i.e avoid reciprocal link building so that when your source links to you you dont give them a link back. But is this no longer valid when targeting inbound links to increase rank? Is it ok to link back or will that "leak SEO juice" or whatever we decide to call it this week.

Will bad things happen if I cancel 301 site redirect?
Hi, please someone help! We have two identical websites, say A & B. Because of the not so good SEO establishment, site B was built and site A was 301 redirected to site B weeks ago. For some reasons, we have to reuse site A, which means we have to cancel the 301 redirection. (Sound a little crazy) So the question are: 1. Can we conduct the action? 2. If we cant, what's the reason? 3. If we can, what would be the best practice? Thanks for help in advance! Plus: we also CARE what would happen to site B if the 301 is cancelled? Will it grow healthy like a new site?

CNAME redirect for Press Releases
Our company is moving our press release section over to Business Wire. Business Wire will be hosting the press releases on their servers http//ourcompany.newshq.businesswire.com, but we want it to display as if these are hosted on our site www.ourcompany/press-releases/. This is where our press releases are hosted now. They are recommending using a CNAME redirect to essentially mask their URL and display ours. We don't want to lose out on the search value that our press release area has built up over time. Will the CNAME redirect cause any SEO problems?
