  • Does anyone use any free / open source profreading tool that not only corrects spelling, double-spacing and capital letters, but also meaning. Let's say it will tell you verb or subject is missing in the sentence. Or that a sentence doesn't make sense, such as 'Dog English he does looks well twelve'. Thanks. Katarina

  • Hi everyone - I'm trying to benchmark an entire industry. Given that Google seems to adjust what ranking signals should be counted more heavily based on the industry/query - I'd like to be able to benchmark a specific industry. As a silly example - let's say I want to know what ranking signals would most effect coffee shops, real estate agents, or manufacturers. Has anyone here ever found an efficient way to analyze: 1. Who the top 10 are for 5-10 keywords, in that industry 2. What they have in common (e.g. meta info, content length, ssl certs, etc.) 3. What were the differences in the higher ranking ones (domain name registration age, content quality, etc.) It seems like there has to be a way to do this given that Moz, SEM Rush, and others release yearly reports that detail which ranking signals seem to be most important. I'd just like to be able to know what the top ranking signals are for a specific industry, based off of who is ranking really well in that industry already. Thanks!

  • Hello Moz Community, A friend of mine who runs an SEO agency uses a few tools to email dozens of websites a day in a semi-automated fashion. We share knowledge a lot, but I still don't know what he uses for this. Can anyone recommend a tool that would help find industry-relevant websites that could accommodate a backlink? I'm looking for a tool that will generate emails to the contacts for each website. Any suggestions would be appreciated! ps. If anyone has any other recommendations for tools for finding good industry-specific citations, please let me know! Thanks, Anton Vasiliv

  • Need to add intentions to a large volume of KWs.
    Approaches found so far:
    1. Manually e.g. Mechanical Turk
    2. Excel/VBA automation. Requires manual work - for instance, deciding on rules.
    3. NLP, Machine Leearning, Text Classification, followed by Power BI or similar for visualization. Easily a few thousand dollars to build in 4-6 weeks.
    4. Some agencies offer it as part of their services. 5. But is there a platform/tool that offers this?
Called only Semrush and they didn't know any platform/tool but may offer it in the future.
    6. ....... What options am I missing? Thanks. Richard.

  • Unless you're lining up the leads you get in Google Analytics with the form submissions onsite by date, it's impossible to connect the dots on which leads came to fruition. Does anyone know of any software that matches up the leads automatically? Can be either paid or non-paid. Thanks for the help!

  • Hi all, We can see the old pages/links of a website using web.archive.org. But we need to manually check all the cached versions to know those. Is there anyway to get all those links/pages? Thanks

  • I've run into an issue where some of my clients are seeing large amounts of users in Analytics from outside of their markets. They only serve their local areas, so there should be a minimal amount of traffic from outside of them. I know that geolocation isn't 100% reliable, but these numbers are too far off to be categorized as simply being misidentified. Here are the important details: Over 48% of the traffic is listed as coming from outside of the state 62.77% of traffic is mobile, 28.95% desktop, and 9.28% tablet Of that, 23.73% is coming from an adjacent state, and of that, 82.41% is coming from one city - which is over 200 miles from the target city Several other clients that we manage also show large amounts of traffic coming from this same city, outside of their state or market The bounce rate from the target state is 52.82% - the bounce rate from the adjacent state is 67.41% Goal conversion rate is 19.43% in target state, 13.73% in adjacent state, and 15.79% in a far distant state - other states vary dramatically Analytics reports source/medium as primarily being facebook/cpc and google/cpc for out of state traffic, but both are set to only show ads to people in target state AdWords reports zero traffic from outside of target state, even though I can see the exact AdWords campaigns IDs in Analytics which tells me the traffic came from out of state Some Ad Groups listed in Analytics out of state traffic reports show zero clicks in AdWords I have spent a ton of time on the phone with AdWords support and they are giving me the runaround. They clearly know there is an issue, but keep saying that the data is accurate and that sometimes things are misidentified. They have no explanation for why so much traffic from CPC sources is being classified as out of state or why the AdWords and Analytics data aren't even close to matching. TLDR: Google Analytics shows thousands of users coming from paid sources outside of our target state; AdWords shows zero. Help appreciated!

  • Hi all, We can see the "internal links" in Google webmaster tools where the links pointing to each page will be listed. But this data is not up to date and I also would like to know how competitors are internal linking and which pages of them have most internal links pointing to? So please let me know if there is some tool for this. Thanks

  • I am curious to hear from Moz  community about the best keyword tool right now which gives most accurate numbers as Google is hiding the numbers. I have used few tools which allows us to check volume for different countries; but would like to know which tool even has the global search volume & search volume for "multiple" selected countries. Thanks

  • I use Moz's title tag tool, as I've compared it against titles on Googles and it always correct. But I haven't found a good one for the description. I've tried the two below, but on occasions, they've gotten it wrong. Can anyone suggest a better one?? https://www.portent.com/serp-preview-tool http://www.seomofo.com/snippet-optimizer.html Thanks:)

  • I'm looking to create a better 404 page. I'm looking at integrating Google Search as a custom 404 page. I found this article: https://www.smashingmagazine.com/2014/08/a-better-404-page/ Basically, I want to grab whatever keyword(s) are in the broken page's URL and present custom Google search result to be displayed on the 404 page. Kind of like a "were you looking for this?" type of layout. Does anyone have experience with implementing this? Someone on my organization said that Google may "penalize" such practices.

  • Hi Google Analytics settings can geotarget to just one main location from what I can see. But is there a way to target the website to more than 1 location. The domain is currently a .co.uk so it is UK specific, and from my knowledge I understand that popular and well ranked pages in any country can rank outside of the geotargeted area. Aside from canonicalising new url's with relevant keywords, meta tagging new pages, and creating unique rich content tailored to countries is there anything else I can do, in your opinion? Thanks.

  • Can anyone provide any tips to help promote my NZ site to the travelers in the US UK Europe & Australia www.southernwhitewater.com So far I have added Google translate in 36 languages, Left the targeting blank in webmaster tools Using CloudFlare CDN Registered with NZ travel directories with international reach I have seen the Moz video on options but I can see how I would make pages for these different locations without messing up the navigation.  How do I tell google to pull an alternate subdomain when you are searching for example the US (with the US based keywords in the page) Is there any alternative search sources to consider (International directories, like DMOZ) Thanks Rod
