Linking Domains

Frequently Asked Questions

  • After being found, newly discovered linking domains have the ability to be populated into our index in about 3 days. It may take longer for us to discover backlinks to your site based on factors like crawlability of the referring pages, as well as the quality of the links and the referring pages. It is a good idea to check to see if we've indexed the referring page on which that link is found. If we haven't indexed the referring page yet, you won't see your link in our index. You can use Link Tracking Lists to help monitor the discovery of your backlinks. Read more about how we index the web and how to investigate if we're not finding your links.
  • Once you’ve checked that the referring page can be indexed, we advise using Link Tracking Lists to help monitor the discovery of your backlinks.

What are Linking Domains?

Linking Domains are sites that link to your site. The count here is the total number of domains linking to you. If you have ten backlinks from a single domain, like Pinterest or Wikipedia, this will be counted as one linking domain.

Sorting & Filtering

Within Linking Domains you have the option to filter by Link Type or Link State.

When filtering by Link Type, you can choose to see all links, only domains with follow links pointing to your site, or only domains with nofollow links pointing to your site.

When filtering by Link State you have the options to view all all links, only domains marked as lost, or only domains marked as active.

You also have the option to sort the Linking Domains list by Domain Authority (DA) or Spam Score.

Overview of the sorting and filtering option in Linking Domains as outlined above.

Please note: When a sort or filter is applied, the tool will look at the top 100,000 links. It doesn’t matter what domain these links are from. For example, if you have 5 million links and sort by PA, the tool will look at the top 100,000 links based on PA.

Follow Linking Domains

When filtering by Link State and selecting follow, we'll show all the domains with at least one follow link. It's worth noting that if you then select the arrow on the right to see Top Links, that follow link may not feature in those top 10 links.

Filter by follow link type to see linking domains with at least one follow link associated with them for your site.

View Top Links

Click on the arrow in the Top Links column to expand and see more information about the links we’re finding from a particular domain. When the view is expanded, we will show you the Top Links from that domain, sorted by Page Authority (PA). Click All links from this root domain to be taken to the Inbound Links section which will be pre-filtered by Link Source to show the top 10 links from this domain.

You can click the arrow to the right to see the top links from this domain.

The export to CSV button is located to the right of the filter options in Linking Domains.
