Bulk Delete Keywords

You can bulk remove 25 keywords at a time by selecting the top check box and clicking on Delete button.

To bulk remove keywords, use the top check box to select all the keywords on that page.

Filter and Delete Keywords

You can filter your Tracked Keywords and delete according to the filter settings.

  1. Set up your filter parameters - in this example we're deleting keywords associated with a label
  2. Select the keywords using the top check box
  3. Click on the Delete button

If your filter contains more than 25 keywords you'll need to select the top check box for the next page and click on the Delete button until all associated keywords are deleted.

You can also bulk delete by search criteria. In this example we are deleting keywords associated with a specific label.

Keywords Marked as Removed

Deleted keywords will still be listed in your Tracked Keywords Overview but will be greyed out with the label removed until after your next weekly Campaign update.

Deleted keywords are immediately factored into your keyword limits for your subscription. This means if you remove 5 keywords, they will still show as removed your Campaign, however your keyword allowance will immediately reflect that you can add 5 new keywords.

The removed label will be noted just below the greyed out keyword.

Historical Ranking Data

If you delete keywords from your Campaign you won’t see new data gathered for these keywords going forward. You can locate historical data for deleted keywords by accessing historical reports from the Rankings section.

To export your historical keyword data, first head to Rankings and select a past report, or custom timeframe from the date range calendar. Click on the Export to CSV button next to the Tracked Keywords Overview to filter and sort the data in a spreadsheet.

Use the calendar to select a past timeframe.
Export to CSV to sort and filter as needed.

Impact of Deleting Keywords on Metrics

Deleting keywords may impact on your overall Search Visibility score in Moz Pro. If you delete a lot of keywords you’re ranking well for, your Search Visibility score may decrease. Alternatively if you delete keywords you’re not ranking very well for, your score may increase. This is because your Search Visibility score is calculated by taking all of your rankings for all of your tracked keywords and applying a formula based on click-through rate for your ranking position for those keywords.

Please note: The impact of deleting keywords from your Campaign on your metrics will not be seen until the next weekly Campaign update. Search Visibility and other keyword related metrics will reflect all of the keywords that were present at the time of the collection for the timeframe you’ve selected. We don't change historical data when your keywords are removed. If, at a later date, you select a date range which includes a time when those keywords were being tracked, they will be included in your metrics and keyword list with a note stating removed.
