Within the Moz Community you can learn more about SEO and connect with SEO professionals. You’ll be able to interact on the blog and do research, all within your account.

Creating Your Moz Community Account

Creating your Moz Community account is quick, easy, and free. There are 2 ways to get started with the setup process.

Signing up from the login screen

  1. Click Log in from the top right of moz.com
  2. Click Create an account
  3. Enter your Email address, unique Display name (this will be displayed publicly in your Community Profile and your interactions in the community), and Password - be sure to also agree to the Moz Terms of Service and Community Etiquette guidelines.
  4. Complete the captcha, if prompted, and click Create an account

Signing up from the Community home page

  1. Head to https://moz.com/community directly or click Resources > Community & Events
  2. Click Sign Up For Free
  3. Enter your Email address, unique Display name (this will be displayed publicly in your Community Profile and your interactions in the community), and Password - be sure to also agree to the Moz Terms of Service and Community Etiquette guidelines.
  4. Complete the captcha, if prompted, and click Create an account.

Once you’ve completed the sign up process, you will receive an email asking you to confirm your account.

Common Sign Up Errors

That email address already exists

Error message stating that the email entered already exists.

When signing up for your account, if you’ve received the error That email address already exists, it means there is already a moz.com account associated with the email you’re attempting to use.

How to resolve:

You can click Log in to log into your existing account. The Log in screen will also provide a link to reset your password, if needed.

That username already exists

Error message stating that the chosen display name is already in use.

When signing up for your account, if you’ve received the error That username already exists, it means that the chosen Display name is already in use by another moz.com account. This account may not be your personal account - the chosen Display name should be a unique identifier for your account and profile.

How to resolve:

Please choose a different Display name for your account. It must be unique to your account and cannot be one already in use by another moz.com community member.

That email address appears to be invalid

Error message stating that the email address entered is invalid.

When signing up for your account, if you’ve received the error That email address appears to be invalid, this means that the email address entered is not correctly formatted.

How to resolve:

Please ensure there are no spaces before or after the email address entered and that the email follows the correct format of name@domain.tld (for example sandwiches@gmail.com).

Updating Your Moz Community Profile

Want to change your profile picture to something more spiffy? Or are you ready get your profile to 100% complete? Well let’s show you how!

  1. Log into to your Moz Pro account or Community account.
  2. From the profile drop-down on the top right-hand side, select Community Profile.
  3. Click thecircle icon on the right hand side of the screen
  4. Click Edit from the drop-down menu

Within your profile in the Moz Q&A Forum you will see a Reputation score noted. This score is calculated based on the number of upvotes you’ve received on your questions and answers throughout the Moz Community.

Once you’ve earned Reputation score of 5 or more, you’ll have the ability to add the following information to your profile.

  • Website
  • About me
  • Signature

Your Moz Community Profile Settings

Within the Settings section of your Community Profile, you can choose whether you’d like to show your full name and email within your profile and set guidelines around how you’d like to be notified about comments and votes for your posts.

The profile settings option is located within the same menu as the edit option.

Within the Privacy section, tick the boxes provided to display your name and email. The default here is to not show that information publicly.

Within the settings options you can opt to hide your email and full name as well as adjust your notification settings.

Please note: If you have updated your profile to include your name and email, you will be able to see this information when viewing your own profile even if you have opted to not show it publicly. Have no fear! It will not be able to be seen by others. You can verify that your email is not visible by looking for an eye icon with a cross through it beside your email.

Look for the eye icon to verify your email is hidden.
