Frequently Asked Questions

  • Our partners will not revert listings after cancellation. We simply update our partners that your listing is no longer being managed. This means your listing will become vulnerable to unwanted updates by data aggregators & potentially undo all of the work you've done.
  • If you are not seeing the option to Deactivate your location, it may indicate you've already gone through the cancellation process for this location. For more information, please see below.
  • You will receive an email approximately 7 days prior to the renewal date of your Moz Local location as a reminder of the upcoming renewal. Please ensure that neither noreply@moz.com or help@moz.com are blocked by your email server.
  • Renewal for Moz Local locations should be cancelled at least 72 hours prior to the end of the billing period to avoid being charged. If your location is set to renew within the next 72 hours, cancelling with immediate effect is the best way to avoid being charged for your annual renewal. Please see below for instructions on how to cancel your location with immediate effect.
  • All Moz Local locations are set to auto-renew by default. If you purchased your Moz Local subscription during a limited time promotion it will renew at the standard price noted on the Moz Local pricing page. Moz Local Cancellation Options

When cancelling your Moz Local location subscription you have two choices:

  1. Cancel on renewal — Any updates you make to your location information in Moz Local will continue to be sent to our partners until your subscription ends on your renewal date (this date will be noted on the cancellation page). Your subscription will no longer auto-renew, but you can reactivate your subscription at any time before your subscription ends.
  2. Cancel immediately — Your location will be released and you will no longer be able to update your location information in Moz Local. Location information updates will stop being sent to our partners.

Stop Moz Local Renewal

To stop Moz Local renewal, follow these steps:

  1. Log into your Moz account and access your Moz Local Dashboard via the drop-down on the top right
  2. If you are managing multiple locations, select the location you're looking to cancel or if you have only one location, head to step 3
  3. Head to the Profile tab of the location you want to cancel
  4. Select the Deactivate Location drop-down on the right-hand side
  5. Click on the blue Deactivate Location button
  6. If you are cancelling your only Moz Local location, fill in the survey when prompted and click on the blue Cancel My Subscription button (Please note: If you are managing multiple locations which which are set to auto-renew, this step will be skipped)
  7. From the next page, click on the red Cancel on renewal button

You can locate the link to your Moz Local dashboard via the drop-down on the top right under Moz Local.
Within the Profile of the location you're wanting to cancel, click Deactivate Location.
Click the blue deactivate location button.
Select cancel on renewal to cancel your location at the end of your billing cycle.

Reactivate Your Local Subscription

If you chose to cancel your Moz Local location subscription on renewal you can reactivate your subscription at any time before your subscription ends.

To reactivate your subscription, follow these steps:

  1. Log into your Moz account and access your Moz Local Dashboard via the drop-down on the top right
  2. If you are managing multiple locations, select the location you're looking to reactivate or if you have only one location, head to step 3
  3. Head to the Profile tab of the location you want to reactivate
  4. Select the This location is cancelled! drop-down on the right-hand side
  5. Click on the blue Reactivate Location button

Your subscription has been reactivated and will automatically renew on the next scheduled renewal date.

You can reactivate your location via the profile tab for that location.

Cancel Your Subscription With Immediate Effect

To cancel your subscription with immediate effect, follow these steps :

  1. Log into your Moz account and access your Moz Local Dashboard via the drop-down on the top right
  2. If you are managing multiple locations, select the location you're looking to cancel or if you have only one location, head to step 3
  3. Head to the Profile tab of the location you want to cancel
  4. Select the Deactivate Location drop-down on the right-hand side
  5. Click on the blue Deactivate Location button
  6. If you are cancelling your only Moz Local location, fill in the survey when prompted and click on the blue Cancel My Subscription button (Please note: If you are managing multiple locations which which are set to auto-renew, this step will be skipped)
  7. Check the check box to confirm you understand that immediate cancellation will mean your location is eligible for others to purchase
  8. Click on the red Cancel immediately button

Your location will be released and you will no longer manage this location through Moz Local. Canceling immediately is the best way to release a listing with immediate effect.

You can locate the link to your Moz Local dashboard via the drop-down on the top right under Moz Local.
Within the Profile of the location you're wanting to cancel, click Deactivate Location.
Click the blue deactivate location button.
Check the box to confirm that you understand you're cancelling with immediate effect and then click the cancel immediately button.

Delete Locations From Directories & Platforms

If a business location is shutting down, it’s important to make sure directories and search engines are aware, so your customers stay informed.

With Moz Local you can choose to delete your location for directories when it’s closing down for good. We’ll then send this information to our partners. They will either mark that location as permanently closed or they will remove the listing for that location all together (depending on the partner.)

You can mark your business as closed in Moz Local by following these steps:

  1. Log into your Moz account and head to the Profile tab
  2. Click on the Delete location from directories and platforms drop-down
  3. Click on the blue Delete location from Directories and Platforms button
  4. Click on the Confirm button
  5. This action will also cancel your subscription renewal so you’re not charged in future.
Within the Delete Location drop-down you can opt to delete your location from directories or platforms.
Click the blue confirm button to finish the process.

I’m Not Seeing the Option to Deactivate

Within your location Profile, if you are not seeing the option to deactivate your location but are instead seeing the This location is cancelled! noted in its place, this indicates that you have already disabled the auto-renew for this location and it will be removed from your account at the end of the billing cycle.

If your location is already cancelled you will see a notice that the location is cancelled in place of the deactivate location option in the profile tab.

If you would prefer to cancel your location with immediate effect, you will first need to Reactivate your location. Once that is complete, you can reinitiate the cancellation process and opt to Cancel Immediately.
