Bringing on a handful of established clients that have never focused on SEO. Needless to say, they will be starting past page 5 on many items.

What is the best tactic to figure out their ranking, determine progress internally and also provide movement reports when they are past the five page limit?

Definitely make sure Google Search Console is setup. I like to use Ubersuggest.com to track keywords so you can first pull a current report of all the organic traffic to the website. Next you can add specific keywords that you want to track for so you can show month over month improvements. You can also export a PDF that has no logo, so it can be whitelabel.

Go through and identify low competition keywords using ubersuggest that are relevant. Make sure you rewrite each page title and meta description.

Here is an excel file that I use to go through each page on a website and update the title, description, url structure, etc. Should be self explanatory but let me know.

I understand it is so frustrating sometimes to start with. I would say analyze their website pages, pick-up a page that has better performance, do proper keyword analysis, do backlink analysis. If you get any irrelevant and bad backlinks disavow them and check the content whether it is outdated or updated.
CoreSEO has reduced my SEO efforts on Off-page and On-page activities. I am able to analyze backlinks and any other issues hurting my client's ranking and fix them immediately. I must say I have seen noticeable results on the client's website.

For new clients request access to their Google Search Console. Review top performing pages in target region in last 12 months. Identify pages that have an average position between 5-20 and move them to top half of 1st page or to the 1st page in rankings to show progress.

You can use tools like SEMRush, Ahrefs to do a competitive landscape analysis to showcase to clients if they need to work towards:

              a) Optimizing page load time and user experience
              b) Improving technical SEO
              c) Identify gaps to create new content
              d) Identify gaps to build backlink profile.

Comparing to direct competitors will help you understand where your client stands against its competitors and based on the website you can formulate an SEO strategy with goals & measurable KPIs.

English pages given preference over local language

                  seo seo rankings rankings google

We recently launched a new design of our website and for SEO purposes we decided to have our website both in English and in Dutch. However, when I look at the rankings in MOZ for many of our keywords, it seems the English pages are being preferred over the Dutch ones. That never used to be the case when we had our website in the old design. It mainly is for pages that have an English keyword attached to them, but even then the Dutch page would just rank. I'm trying to figure out why English pages are being preferred now and whether that could actually damage our rankings, as search engines would prefer copy in the local language. An example is this page: https://www.bluebillywig.com/nl/html5-video-player/ for the keywords "HTML5 player" and "HTML5 video player".

Static content pages ranking dropping all the time

rankings seo rankings seo on page optimization on-page

Hello all. I have been working three months in my current job in the hotel industry. I have been publishing a lot of content to our website (mainly articles), which in general have been ranking well and really boosted our website traffic. The problem that I am facing, though, is the fact that our static pages' rankings are basically constantly dropping. Especially one of our main pages, which is this hotel page. I haven't been doing any real changes to the content, but the ranking (with keywords "hotelli helsinki" [Hotel in Helsinki in Finnish]) has plummeted from 13th position all the way down to 19th... What has been happening during these last three months is that we did change to a new domain and we have done all the redirections and also informed Google about this change through search console. I have also done some minor changes to the on-page content, such as changing the meta titles and descriptions as well as the page title and some of the text content to more natural ones instead of clumsy SEO texts and optimizing the images. This hasn't helped at all though and the rankings seem to steadily drop all the time. What would YOU do with this page? Maybe add more text content to the page to be more informative? All tips would be highly appreciated.

Odd one - dropping positions but traffic improving

link building seo tactics seo rankings

Seem to have a bit of an odd one. For the last few months been running a backlink campaign for a 2/3 year old site, got good positions for some keywords/pages but seems to have plateaued the last 60 days or so with some keywords dropping in position.
The odd thing is traffic seems to be still improving (according to GA and GSC). I am wondering if - have hit a niche ceiling
or rankbrain type thing i.e. google trying to work out what the site should be ranking for and messing with positions.
or because it is just a newish site. Any ideas?

                  Plagiarized Site Effecting Google Rankings

seo rankings spam plagiarism duplicate content

Can someone provides insights on a de-indexing example? I have gone through the depths of Google lack of support and requesting duplicate content flags, so no avail. Here's the scenario: Client had a competing SEO provider try to earn his business. In doing so, he copied word for word our blog that we have been producing content on over the last 5 years. He also integrated Google reviews in the structured data on this new URL. Well, fast forward 1-2 months later, our rankings started to drop. We found this 100% plagiarized site is taking away from our keyword rankings on GMB, and is no and Google search, and our site GMB is now only displaying on a branded name search as well as our search traffic has dropped. I have identified the plagiarized, duplicated content, being tied to our GMB as well, as the source of the problem. Well, I finally obtain ed control of the plagarized domain and shut down the hosted, and forwarded the URL to our URL. Well, Google still has the HTTS version of the site indexed. And it is in my professional opinion, that since the site is still indexed and is associated with the physician GMB that was ranking for our target keyword and no longer does, that this is the barrier to ranking again. Since its the HTTPS version, it is not forwarded to our domain. Its a 504 error but is still ranking in the google index. The hosting and SSL was canceled circa December 10th. I have been waiting for Google to de-index this site, therefore allowing our primary site to climb the rankings and GMB rankings once again. But it has been 6 weeks and Google is still indexing this spam site. I am incredibly frustrated with google support (as a google partner) and disappointed that this spam site is still indexed. Again, my conclusion that when this SPAM site is de-indexed, we will return back to #1. But when? and at this point, ever? Highlighted below is the spam site. Any suggestions? Capture.PNG
