SEO question about lots of outbound links
-
I'm considering adding a directory page to one of my websites that lists local groups from all around the world. I haven't kept up with SEO in a long time, but I recall (many) years ago that having a lot of outgoing links and very few (if any) inbound connections was a terrible thing. Is this still the case, or have search engine algorithms figured out that this can be beneficial to site visitors?
What effect will adding a page like this have on my SEO?

Hey @jordanchris! When adding any outbound links to a page, the most important question to ask yourself is whether users will gain meaningful and significant value from those links. Adding spammy outbound links to your site is harmful in a similar way to receiving lots of spammy inbound links - it puts your site in a bad overall "link neighborhood" and often causes search engines to assume your site itself is of low quality.
If you think your site users will value these links, go ahead and include them - but consider other ways you can demonstrate your site's authority and trustworthiness at the same time. Are there organic and natural ways you might earn links from other authoritative sites in your industry? Is there a need for high-quality content within your industry that your site can reasonably contribute? Your outbound links are just one part of Google's total perception of your site, so beefing up your E-A-T signals in other ways can help offset any potentially questionable actions you're testing.
BTW, "testing" is a good way to approach something like this. If you add this directory page and find that your site seems to be suffering in the eyes of the search engines within 3-6 months of the change, consider reverting or altering the decision.

Unsolved Anyone else finding that the Link Intersection tool is not accurate?
I ran the Link Intersect tool on my site vs competitor's site. The first 3 domains it tells me the competitor has links from but I do not are: medium.com, behance.net, and moz.com. I thought this was odd because I know for a fact I built profiles with a link on all 3 sites. So, I went to all 3 and found my links on these sites. I also double-checked in the Google search console and they show up there. Am I understanding the tool wrong? Is it really showing me sites we both have vs what I don't have?

Back link from site with DA of 72 to a website domain. Clicking on the link redirects to our website not the attended one.
Hi,
Link Building | | JIMBO16
I've ran a back link check and discovered a good back link to a site which then gets redirected back to my company's website. I have a feeling that an old SEO agency has purchased a small website which has a decent link back from a relevant organisation with a high Domain authority and then redirects the domain to our website to get the link juice. What are your thought on this? Is this really bad practise and possibly damaging? Thanks, Jim0 -
SEO Training Question
Hi Iv been asked iv to host a basic SEO training session for some employees who have never had any experience in SEO before. Obviously SEO covers so many things and it would be imposisble to run through everything in a single training session. I was curious as to what you guys think would be the best use of the time for the training session? Thanks in advance

Do incoming affiliate links help with SEO?
Quick question: If my affiliates promote an ebook via an e-junkie affiliate link that points to a sales page on my domain, will I get any SEO benefit from the links? Will Google see that the e-Junkie affiliate link 'hops' through to my domain name? i.e. Affiliate's website --> eJunkie link --> ebook landing page on my domain Thanks for your advice! Ian

The Value Of A Link
Hi There, Let's say I am able to get a link from a very well trust worthy blog that writes abot things related to my business. Now my question is how much value does another link with the same anchor text, from the same blog has compared to the first link, or compared to a new link from a slightly less powerfull blog? Or in another words, if I got 1 link from this great website should I invest my time to find another website where I can get a link from or should I invest it in getting another link from the website I already got a link from ( which might be easier)?
