The website https://www.zehlm.com has also dropped, but not a few points. The last Google update, which was within the last week, diminished the DA and PA to "0". The thing here that doesn't add up, is that the SEO score according to Seobility is a whopping 99%. All of the code is valid through w3c and there are at least 8 keyword phrases that are above 88% on individual SEO scores.
Really is strange. I don't see this type of nonsense in other websites. Could this be sabbotage?

Domain authority (DA) is a metric used to measure how authoritative a domain name is. A higher DA means that the site is more trusted and authoritative than others.

The DA of a website is calculated using several factors including backlinks, page rank, age of the website, etc.
As we know, the number of backlinks is directly proportional to the traffic of a website. So, if the number of backlinks increases, then the traffic of a website will increase.

So, if the number of links decreases, then the traffic of the website will decrease.

In this article, I am going to explain what causes the drop in the number of backlinks and how to fix it.
                  What Causes Backlink Drop?

There are many reasons behind the link drop. Let's discuss them below:

                  1. Google algorithm update
Google updates its algorithms frequently. Sometimes they do it without any warning. In these cases, the search engine may penalize websites that have been ranking well previously.

                  2. Website redesign
If you have redesigned your website recently, then chances are that you might have lost some of your previous rankings.

                  3. Low quality content
When you write articles for your blog, make sure that they are high-quality and informative. If not, then you should consider writing guest posts instead.

@rishu578 Perpase the answer is that your competitors are going up in DA, indirectly lowering yours by surpassing your position.

                        Hi Everone,

Our website(https://www.buddyloan.com/) was having a DA of 28 and suddenly it dropped to 23. What would be the reason? I have checked the backlinks. there was a drop in no.of backlinks. what other factors can I check?

The same thing I have noticed with my website https://www.techtricknews.com/.

I have disavowed several backlinks and updated theme few times. And guessing that this might be the reason for dropping DA from 15 to 12.

Both good answers above. Chiming in here to echo what's been said, and point out that it's unhelpful to track your domain's DA from Moz month over month because Moz's DA:

                                • is to Moz
                                • is not used by Google
                                • is subject to change, pending updates Moz makes to its own DA algorithm

I would, instead, focus on figuring out how to make your domain stronger with and without links. You may very well need to focus on building links to your site to increase authority and exposure, but you may not be able to accomplish that unless you create content that is "easy" to promote, and compels other websites to link to you.

                                Hope this helps.

See my relevant answer to an older, similar question here:

                                  https://moz.com/community/q/why-did-my-site-s-da-just-drop-by-50

"Keep in mind that PageRank (which is used by Google to weight the popularity and authority of web pages, yes it's still true even after the little toolbars got deleted) does not read, utilise or rely upon Moz's DA metric in any way shape or form. DA is a 'shadow metric'. Since Google took away our view of the simplified PageRank algorithm (TBPR - ToolBar PageRank, which is dead) people working in SEO needed a new metric to evaluate the quality and ranking potential of web pages

Moz stepped in to supply this (in the form of PA / DA) but Google still use PageRank (they just don't show it to us any more). Whilst Moz's PA/DA metrics are a good 'indicator' of success, Google isn't using them (at all) and so they do not directly affect your rankings"

Only someone from Moz can confirm why your DA dropped, but it may have dropped for a reason that wouldn't impact or effect Google rankings in the slightest (so don't panic yet!)

                                      Hello Rishi,

Have you made any changes to the site?

DA is a concept proprietary to Moz, it was recently recalibrated which may explain the drop - https://moz.com/domain-authority-2.0

I'm new to backlink auditing and I'm certain that the website in question is a link directory anyway. It's spam score isn't high, so in theory it looks okay but in actual fact the webhosting has expired. How badly do these types of broken inbound links affect my site?

My Domain has a couple of badlinks decreasing my rankings, will disavowing them reduce my Domain Authority on Moz?

Good day Every Body, I have a heart aching issue, my site (nightwatchng.com) amassed a number carnivorous backlinks, I have lost rankings, i studied my search traffic and discovered that I have been hit by Google Penguin Algorithm Penalty, I was forced to believe that those backlinks were built to my site on purpose just so my rankings will drop, I know the importance of link building and thats why i follow the white hat technique. Now the big question is, IF I DISAVOW THESE TERRIBLE LINKS FROM GOOGLE SEARCH, WILL MY MOZ DOMAIN AUTHORITY DROP FROM WHAT IT CURRENTLY HAS?? I also want to know if the Algorithm Penalty will affect the subdomain (news nightwatchng.com) of my site?

Subdomain links vs root domain links? Are the less valuable?

I am determining the value of links we get. Is a link on a subdomain less valuable vs one on the root domain? How less valuable would you consider a subdomain link? For example blog.site.com vs site.com/blog What other metrics would you take into consideration for the value of a subdomain link?

                                        The dreaded drop

Hello all, So a sister site has contacted me about their drop in traffic, around January they created a page, (and I kid you not), with a title of "Banner Link Exchange", it took me about ten minutes to stop laughing. Around the 16th of July their traffic dropped like a stone (see image). Obviously I've had them remove the page and we've contacted the sites that they swapped links with, there are 20+). I'm going to give them a week then I'm going to disavow the links. Interestingly the brand keywords are all still at position one, but it's decimated any product and broad search links. I've had them create a blog and they're going to contact the sites they were linking with and write some proper articles. We'll clean up their backlink profile and any site issues they have. It's an ecommerce site so the projected take is down around 40% My question is are there any indications after fixing as much as possible that the traffic will return, and in what period of time? (i'm seeing conflicting ideas about this) We can't change the site domain as there's a physical store as well... the domain was first used in 1996... Cheers Stew Yz8xiS5.png

How do Domain Authority and the Price of a Paid Listing Relate?

I'm just starting to do some in-house link building for the first time. Having looked at some of our competitors it seems that they have paid for links on some B2B sites and I was wondering how the Domain authority and the price charged were related. The follow up question is then how do you estimate the ROI of a link? So for example looking at a site with a DA of 30  and a page authority of 17 how much should one pay for the link? How do you decide how much you should pay for a link - and whether it is value for money? btw I'm not interested in buying links I'm curious 🙂 Thanks for any thoughts

On my latest report we have dropped one point on Domain authority. I also note that our 3 competitor rankings have dropped as well. Has something changed to make this occur.

                                        Exact match domains still work??

I'm sure this has been asked and it also has been answered but I'd like some insight from another SEO as to why this site ->  <cite>www dot newhomesglasgow.co.uk/ </cite> is ranking on the first page for the keyword(you guessed it) 'new homes in glasgow'  OSE shows about 4 backlinks.  Is it just the content on the page(that's jammed with keywords) and the matching URL? Any feedback would be appreciated 🙂
